Today aton-chain.com went live. It is the home of ATON, a public blockchain for payments that we are building. This post explains what you will find on the site, what is settled and what is still open, and how to hear from us when there is real news.
ATON is being built. The site describes the design as the specification settles it, and it says plainly when something is not decided yet.
What is on the site
- Technology. How blocks made at the same moment are all kept and put into one agreed order by a GHOSTDAG-style rule.
- Mining. One memory-hard proof of work, so an ordinary graphics card can compete and purpose-built mining machines cannot pull ahead.
- The coin. A hard cap of one billion ATON, paid to miners through a long emission that slows into a small tail.
- Fair launch. No premine and no sale, with one exception named in full before the first block.
- Roadmap and changelog. What comes next, and what has changed.
What is settled
The specification fixes the shape of the chain. There will never be more than one billion ATON. Mining uses one memory-hard proof of work, and only one. Blocks can be made in parallel, and every block comes after its parents in one order that every node agrees on. The chain is not secured by work that is useful for something else, because then its security would drop whenever demand for that work dropped.
The launch is fair. No ATON exists before the first block, nothing is sold before launch, and every unit comes from mining, apart from one exception: the team allocation. Its size and its vesting schedule are published before the first block is mined.
What is not settled yet
When each one is settled, it goes into the specification first, and then onto the site.
What the site will not do
The site takes no orders, makes no offers, and nothing on it is financial advice. It never puts a value on ATON, today or in the future. Anyone offering you ATON before launch is not us.

Leave your email on the home page and we will tell you when there is real news about ATON: the specification, the software and the launch.
- We send one email with a link to confirm your address.
- If you do not confirm it, we delete the address.
- After that, you hear from us only about the launch, and not often. Every email gives you a way to leave.
We never sell or lend your address. Here on the blog we will write about how the chain works, the research behind it and the progress we make.
